I made UKS Lay Out of the Week, and it's on the home page. They didn't tell me it would be, so I only found from my UKS team mate. I have to say I know it's not a huge thing but I was very happy.

These LO's are the first I've done with a gorgeous kit I brought from Scrapping Goodies.

Sorry!

No pics of my crafting space today. Had to visit my dad and check that my newly cut key worked in the door (such a faff, it takes a year to get it and then I have to go to three different shops to find on that can cut it!). Well I got fed tonight (lovely sausage and mash with onion gravy and peas, thanks to my step mum) and we watched Trinny and Susannah. Well TTFN and see ya tomorrow.

Bad girl!!

I have been very naughty. I am seriously behind in my blog. I do however have a good reason.

The last piece of new furniture for my room has finally arrived. Word of advice to all - Do not get Ikea to deliver furniture to you, or you may end up like me, waiting six weeks for it only to have to go out and find the truck and tell them where to go! So having been without furniture for 6 weeks (we gave the old stuff to a little boy I know), it took me a day to put together and then two days to sort out my room. Now my room is sorted I have scrapping space in it. Yay! All my stuff has been removed from the living room, much to my mother's delight, to be placed upstairs. So that's where I've been for the past 10 days, up in my room scrapping. I love it! True, I do have to squeeze into my chair which is behind a desk and infront of a radiator (with just enough space to get in), and there's stuff piled up around me. But it's specific scrapping space and the piles are at least organised.

I have my TV and radio set up so I can watch my videos or listen to my audio books. I have been scrapping almost every day and I love it. So I'm sorry for being a very bad blogger but I'll try to be better.

Oooops.....missed a few!

Sorry about being MIA for a while. It was a busy weekend, my mum turned 60 but sssshhhh don't tell anyone, and I've got a stinking cold so I'm not feeling my best.
I've not heard anything else from Addenbrookes. I went and had my blood test on Friday. A lovely lady from occupational health managed to get my appalling veins to play ball and took the sample from my hand. It hurt far less than it has in the past. I've just got a very faint yellow bruise as a result. I'm gonna phone them tomorrow and see if I can find out more.
After the blood test I went shopping in Cambridge with my friend. It was really nice to see her but, as I'm highly disorganised at the moment with regards to Christmas presents, I didn't actually buy anything!
I've been up to Stagenhoe today to see the fundraising manager at Sue Ryder. I'm helping out with their Lights of Love campaign. It's a way of remembering those we love who are no longer with us. Have a look.
Well I'm a little behind with a CJ at the monment. Sorry guys I seem to be saying that alot. This time it's down to me not getting the posting date right. So I'm off now to finish it.

Rain.....

Yes that's what I stood in today!! That and the freezing cold. Even so I had a great day. We had a climbing wall, run by Spiderman and his alter ego Venom (also known as Justin and James), and two lovely ladies who did amazing face painting for 5 hours. We managed to raise a fair amount for Sue Ryder Care.

This one's made with Bazzill cardstock and bitty blossoms, Autumn Leaves papers and buttons, Love Elsie fabric paper, Paperchase gems, Making Memories cheeky shimmer alpha and Basic Grey alpha.

I'm hopefully off to Addenbrookes to have my blood test tomorrow (Yeah right, like I'm looking forward to that!) and then off to Cambridge, shopping with my lovely friend Trudy (she makes great cards).

News

Sorry about not posting for a while. Just a bit forgetful.
Well a bit of news this time so here goes....
The fire walk was amazing, thirty-one people walked on hot embers to raise money for Sue Ryder Care. Although it was fantastic to watch, and all the walkers did brilliantly, you won't catch me doing the next one. Tomorrow I'm off to Stevenage town centre where we will be raising money with a climbing wall and face painting. I just hope the weather holds and we're not doing it in the rain! EEK
The best news though is that it looks like I've got a job. In true NHS style I didn't find out but someone ringing me. Oh No, that would be too simple. A lovely lady from the occupational health department rang me to have a chat. As we went on I kind of got the impression that she wasn't going to ring everyone they interviewed. She confirmed this, so I guess that means they're offering me the job. I've got to go in for a blood test, which I am NOT looking forward to. I am absolutely horrific to take blood from. I have veins but they're buried so deep down and are most excellent at hiding. It always hurts and many times they don't find anything! I know, I know, I'm a nurse and I should be good at this. I'm sorry nurses make awful patients, not quite as bad as doctors, but nearly. I am going to make up for this by going into Cambridge to do some shopping. Most will be window shopping but now I've got a glimpse of some money coming in, I may treat myself!!!!!!!
I managed to get a few LO's done yesterday. I've run out of printed US pictures, so until I get some more printed out I've gone back to other miscellaneous photos which need doing. At least this way I can do some 'tidying up' of me photos.

Not this time.

So it didn't happen for Lewis Hamilton this year but I'm sure that it will at some point, during what I'm sure will be an amazing career. It turns out no rookie has ever won the championship so the fact that he came close is outstanding. In the end, as is the want with British drivers, he was let down by the machinery.This is the delicious Audi R8 which I told you about yesterday. It's sooooo lovely. But I think I've talked about cars a little too much so we'll revert to something else.
Today I was commanded to attend a lunch for my Grandma's 80th birthday. It was nice to see my dad's family again but the service was pretty awful with people having to change their choices left right and centre and everything was very slow. By the end of the meal I just wanted to get home.
Tomorrow there are more LO's to show you and I'll be able to tell you about the fire walk. I'm kinda looking forward to seeing it.

I want it!

Since seeing Top Gear this week, and the adverts that have been appearing, I have decided that my new object of car desire is the gorgeous Audi R8. I would show it to you but once again Blogger is not playing ball so you'll just have to believe how truly lovely it is. Having seen the endurance racing version at Le Mans I was intrigued to see how the road version would look. I was not disappointed but it seems that whilst my dad agrees that it's lovely, he won't buy me one! I don't see why, it could be my birthday and Christmas presents for the rest of my life!!

I watched the F1 qualifying with him this evening. I know that there are a lot of rules and regulations and that sometimes that overshadows the real skill of the drivers and excitement of the race, but I still love it. I will be cheering Lewis on tomorrow. It would be totally wonderful to have a British driver win the championship in his debut season. It's not been done for a long time. We have a vested interest in Lewis as he comes from Stevenage (ie just down the road) and my brother used to compete in the same carting championship as him (although not in the same age group and not in the same league as Lewis). We may not have won the rugby (we did incredibly well to get to the final and the team should be very proud) but we can still have a British world champion this weekend.
I did my first volunteer stint for Sue Ryder Care today. We were selling tickets for a balloon launch. People seem to find it very easy to completely ignore charities, even when they stand a chance of winning something. Ahh well we still managed to sell a few and the balloons looked awesome floating away. I will be helping them again at their fire walk on Monday.
Well after a chinese tonight I'm feeling a bit sleepy, so it's off to bed for me. TTFN

More Layouts

A few more LO's from the bunch I photographed the other day. These are made with more photos from my American trip. So here goes......

This one's another of Hope. She's pretending to sleep to try and disuade me from taking photos. This obviously didn't work! I can't remember what the papers are but the flower shape is Bazzill, there are Heidi Swapp gems, Autumn Leaves Buttons (can you tell I love them), MM rub on alpha and K&Co chipboard alpha.

This one's American Crafts papers, MM chipboard alphas, a Heidi Swapp tab and monkey stickers from Target. I bought the monkey stickers whilst I was in the States with this photo in mind. The little boy in the photo made me laugh so much. I called him a cheeky monkey (which the americans don't understand - cheeky is not in their vocabulary), he told me he wasn't a monkey, he was a boy and he certainly wasn't cheeky! The photo is of him playing 'cheeky monkey' with Hope.

This cutie was born whilst I was in the States so I made sure I got plenty of photos before I came back to the UK. It's made with Bazzill cardstock, papers that I can't remember what they are, MM shimmer alphas and button brads and Heidi Swapp tabs and ghost hearts.

My favourite photo is the bottom right one. I love the way she's looking at the camera and frowning. I think she was sick of the photo taking!

Another try!

This is the latest LO I've completed. It's done from a class from the latest UKS cybercrop. It's a class called Conga by the lovely Karen. I've turned it around to fit my photos but it was a great sketch. The photos are of my friend Hope and her guinea pig Sally. Hope's family looked after me whilst I was working at Riverwoods Christian Center at the summer camp. Hope's dad works at Riverwoods and they introduced me to the camp when I visited last year. Both times I've visited I've had an animal shoved into my hands on the first day. This time it was Sally. The time before I wasn't so lucky, it was a frog! The LO is made with Autumn Leaves, Basic Grey and Love Elsie papers, Bazzill and Doodlebug sugar coated cardstock, Bazzill bitty blossoms, Love Elsie and Basic Grey alphabets and an Autumn Leaves Journal spot.

This is Hope's sister, Grace. We were at a church softball game. Softball is a bit like a cross between rounders and baseball (I think!). The field was smaller than baseball and made of dirt. The dirt got everywhere and when they slide into the bases some of them got some amazing bruises. They looked very painful. It was a very hot day (not that I was complaining after seeing the floods in the UK) and Grace was wearing this hat which she hid underneath. She's smiling 'cos I spent alot of the summer taking photos of her! The papers are Basic Grey and DCWV, the cardstock's DCVW and Bazzill, the flower's are Bazzill, the alpha's Sticko Tag Types and Basic Grey (cut from a piece of patterned paper) and there's another Autumn Leaves journal spot. Oh and a bottle cap with diamond glaze and K and Co flower sequins. It's also based on a class from the UKS cybercrop. The class was Make a Wish by Vanessa from Papermaze. Again I've turned it around but I love the use of the arrow.

This is another one of Hope. She doesn't like having her hair brushed and I told her she looked like she'd been dragged through a hedge backward. Turns out Americans have no idea what this saying means. Most can work it out but Hope needed it explaining but once she understood that became her nickname 'Hedge backward'. This is the last LO I've done based on a class from the UKS cybercrop. It's a class called Wishes by Emma. The class has ribbons in but I decided not to use them. It's Basic Grey papers and mini monograms, Autumn Leaves papers and journal spot, Creative Imaginations paper, Doodlebug sugar coated cardstock, Love Elsie alphabet and Heidi Swapp ghost stars. I think this one's my favourite of the three but I like them all.

I have finally managed to photograph, and upload to the computer, some of my most recent layouts. Now if I can't work this blog thing right I'll show you some (not all of them - I don't want to bore you!)

Coffee

Well that about sums up today. I really didn't do very much today. I went to a friends for coffee. We would normally go out (so I can enjoy my favourite of the moment, a skinny latte with vanilla syrup - YUM) but she wasn't feeling up to going out, so we sat and chatted, mainly about pets and the stupid things they do. I'm sure that Jackie knows all about that.
Managed to finish two LO's today for my album about my time in the US this summer, they were done using sketches from two of the classes in the UKS birthday cyber crop. I really will try to upload them tommorow!

Blimey........

Two posts in two days. Who'd've thought I'd remember.
Well today I went to Stagenhoe, the local neurological care home run by Sue Ryder Care. I went to meet the fundraising coordinator so that I can volunteer and help them out. They're just about to start a week of special events to raise awareness, so I'm going to help them out with that. I'll be helping with a balloon race, a fun day and a firewalk (rather them than me, ie no way!!). Oh well it'll keep me busy and hopefully be quite fun.
I also, finally, sent off my UKS team CJ. I'm only two weeks late, sorry guys!! I forgot to photograph it before I sent it, so even if the computer/dial-up internet would allow me to upload photos, I can't.
I'll get round to uploading some LO's soon (when I get round to photographing some of the recent ones!).

Well I 'spose I should write something!

Having finally figured out how to (sort of) set up this blogger thingie, it suddenly occured to me that I should probably write something! Simple you say, not when you have no idea what to write and are being constantly distracted by Top Gear and their attempts to cross the Channel in a car! I LOVE Top Gear. I know that Jeremy Clarkson can be very opinionated, and that they nearly killed a presenter, but they make me laugh, sometimes so hard that I can't talk! When Clarkson refitted the inside of an old Merc, then May and Hammond tested it, my housemate came in during it. I was laughing so hard, with tears running down my face, that she thought I was very upset and I couldn't tell her what was going on, as I couldn't talk. In the end she went away and had to come back when I had recovered myself.
Anyway, that's digressing a bit and waffling a lot so I'll just let you know a bit about what's going on with me at the moment. I'm jobless and back living with my mum after giving up my job and falt to go and work for a summer on a christian children's camp, called Riverwoods, near Chicago. I had a wonderful time and was so totally blessed. The kids were amazing and I made some amazing friends. Well I'm back in the UK now. I had an interview on Friday but it'll be a couple of weeks before I know. It's getting quite frustrating now, the not having a job I mean, but I'm trusting in God for the right job at the right time.
